for a Cure at REI Muddy Buddy Chicago
July 20, 2013 | Chicago, IL
The Prostate Cancer Foundation is proud to be named the official beneficiary of the REI Muddy Buddy Adventure series. And we're excited to be recruiting members of the Prostate Cancer Foundation's Athletes for a Cure team to help raise funds and awareness for the fight against prostate cancer.
If you and your buddy commit to raising a minimum of $500, we'll take care of both of your entries to the event and have a lot of other prizes along the way, like uniforms, water bottles, backpacks and tech tees!
Before you sign-up, please know that we're not a typical charity training program. You'll mostly be on your own raising awareness for the cause. We'll see you out at the event at packet pickup and then just past the finish line. And know that all money you raise will go directly to the Prostate Cancer Foundation's mission of raising awareness and funding the world's most promising prostate cancer research.
There are 4 simple steps to follow if you'd like to join the team:
1. Click the "Create Fundraising Page" button to the right. We are able to offer at least 10 team entries, these will go to our top 10 highest fundraising teams. In addition, any team that raises over $500 will guarantee their entries to the event. If you have already purchased your entry through the REI Muddy Buddy website, we can get you reimbursed.
2. Make your profile and be sure to upload your picture and include a story.
3. Create a team for you and your buddy.
4. Raise $500 to guarantee your team's entries.
So far, we do not have any fundraising teams. At this point, if you create a team and fundraise anything, you will be able to participate for free.
You can secure your spot early by providing us a credit card number. We will not charge your card until after the event and only the remaining amount toward the $500 minimum. Please email us if you are interested in this option or have any questions.
We'd love to see you out there as part of the team and helping to raise awareness for this disease that will affect 1 in 6 American men. Over 200,000 men will be diagnosed in 2013, and nearly 30,000 lives will be taken by prostate cancer.
